Parents and babies from each state, including some from here in Pennslvania, are in Washington D.C. today for an event that’s been dubbed “Strolling Thunder.”
These families are bringing their stories to tell Congress today about the challenges that “basically all families face,” said Patty Cole, Director of Government Relations with the group Zero to Three.
The group’s mission is to engage government officials about the struggles that families, especially in Pennsylvania, face with affording care for their children. “This is a state where about 2 out of every 5 infants and toddlers live in families that are poor or nearly poor,” added Cole.
Cole says the group also wants lawmakers to make early childhood development a national priority.
