Penn State President Eric Barron says the grisly details of the death of fraternity member Timothy Piazza are “heart-wrenching and incomprehensible.”
20 year-old Piazza died in February following a night of both heavy drinking and pledge hazing where he would sustain injuries from several falls at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house.
18 students are currently being processed in the case as a result of the hazing incident. Barron says, drinking and hazing is unfortunately a national problem with university Greek life. Penn State has permanently banned Beta Theta Pi from campus and is taking a hard look at the rest of the Greek system.
