(PHILADELPHIA) The No. 1 overall draft pick has fractured a bone in his foot.
Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons rolled his ankle during the final scrimmage of training camp and suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot, according to the team.
It was not immediately clear if Simmons would undergo surgery. The team said, “Further medical evaluation and treatment options are being considered at this time and additional updates will be provided when appropriate.”
Simmons was set to start for the Sixers Tuesday in their preseason opener against the Boston Celtics. Originally from Australia, he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft.
Philadelphia finished last season with 10-72.
