It was just a matter of time before local trash haulers wanted to stop the bidding process for a single trash pickup service in Hollidaysburg.
Local haulers have begun circulating surveys, hoping to prove to lawmakers that residents are not in favor of making the change. Under the current system, customers are free to choose their own trash hauler, but that could all change if the borough moves to a new single-hauler system under which one contract would be awarded to one hauler to operate in the borough.
Supporters of the new plan say it would reduce costs, “get in line” with new trash and recycling rules and regulations, and reduce trash accumulation and property blight.
The next council meeting is March 9th at 7PM.
