(SPRINGFIELD, N.J.) — Jimmy Walker has earned his first major title.
The 37-year-old Texan closed the 2016 PGA Championship with a three-under-par 67, edging a one-shot victory over world No. 1 and defending PGA champion Jason Day.
“It is surreal, an incredible finish,” Walker said at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. “Jason made an eagle three on the last and forced me to make a par five, it was tough.
“I made it a little more difficult than I would have liked but I did it.”
Walker was supposed to play on Saturday, but round three was delayed because of a lightning threat.
