A group of elementary school students are being honored today for helping homeless veterans.
Students from the McAuliffe Heights program at Irving Elementary School collected more than 16,000 personal care items for the American Red Cross’ “Totes for Hope” campaign. The students collected body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, and blankets. Those items will go into totes and backpacks for area homeless veterans.
The students also wrote individual notes and cards to be placed inside the packages. The packages will soon be distributed to homeless veterans throughout central Pennsylvania.
