(BORDEAUX, France) — Rough seas in the Atlantic are keeping experts from salvaging a stricken cargo ship.
According to BBC, the Panama-registered Modern Express is tilting at an angle between 40 and 50 degrees as it drifts towards the French coast, maritime authorities said.
Officials have been trying to right the vessel for five days after a malfunction caused all 22 crew members to be airlifted off, BBC reported.
Monday will mark the final rescue attempt before the cargo ship, carrying wood and heavy equipment, runs aground.
On Sunday, officials tried to save the cargo ship, but bad weather and rough seas caused a tow line of over 500 feet to break, according to BBC.
