A fatal car crash occurred last evening at Logan Town Centre near Texas Road House and Dairy Queen around 6:00 PM. Police are reporting that one vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by James McCleary, lost control and hit the median on Osgood Drive, causing it to roll and smash head-on onto the hood/windshield of a stationary vehicle, before going airborne and landing on a third car.

Eye witnesses are alleging that McCleary’s vehicle may have been traveling upwards of 70 MPH. The horrendous crash took the lives of two people. They were 50-year-old Reverend Jerry Hayward and his wife, 59 year-old Kathleen Hayward of Hollidaysburg. Three others were taken to UPMC Altoona with injuries, including the driver of the third vehicle, 44 year old Jennifer Kuhns and her teenage son. The severity of their injuries has not yet been reported.

Altoona Police are saying the crash was one of the most violent in recent memory.
