A report out of the state capitol indicates that two different bills are on the table to give sexual assault victims a 2 year window of opportunity to face their accusers and seek justice. One senate bill was tagged with what are being called republican initiatives that include a voter id provision in the bill. The house looked at that, and took out that provision of the bill, thus crating the stalemate. Both the house and senate have passed their own versions of the sexual assault victim bill, but they cannot come to a compromise between the 2. The issue remains because of the state’s mishandling of a similar bill two years ago, which prohibited that proposed bill from going onto the ballot.
