Bedford County’s Commissioners have approved their budget for next year. The commissioners passed the county’s $18.8 million budget on Tuesday. Taxes for residents will not go up.

However, the commissioners expect to use 480,000 from the county’s fund balance to cover the budget. Also included in the calculations, a $1.5 million tax anticipation note. With property values increasing only slightly in 2016, property tax revenues are not expected to rise dramatically.

The overall budget may also change next year due to ongoing contract negotiations with the county’s three public unions.
