SENATE TERM LIMITS A MUST
By Rusty Baumgartel - Duncansville, PA

I'm surprised that no one seems to be talking about working for term limits for the Senate -- ex. 2 terms, like the president. When the country was started, the attitude was that holding office was a civic duty for a few years, not a profession. We know that the Senate will never support that because they would be out of their cushiony job with all sorts of perks, including those from lobbyists.

But -- we in PA got Pink Pig Shirts last year with the names, party, county and vote for all legislators after they voted themselves a pay raise at 2 AM. It worked -- Jubelirer had been from our county and been in office some 30 years -- was also President-protem of the Senate. He lost big time!!

If we could get rid of a lot of them, some good guys that are willing to “do their Civic Duty” then return to a quiet life, could get enough support to get term limits into law. A number of new senators go into office wanting to make a difference, but get discouraged by trying to buck the “Good Old Boys” network. Of course, the House of Representatives needs term limits too.
