In an effort to highlight a shortage of volunteers a local politician is pitching in to help.

Senator John Eichelberger will deliver a hot noon meal today to approximately 25 homes in Blair County as part of Blair Senior Services ‘Meals on Wheels’ Program.

The Senator says he hopes to draw some attention to this important need for Blair Senior Services.

Lois Link, coordinator of the Meals on Wheels Program, says Blair Senior Services is reminding citizens it only takes two hours in the late morning to make an important difference within the community. She says volunteers can help once a month, once a week, daily, or whatever their schedule will allow.

“Meals on Wheels’ delivers Monday thru Friday to Blair County residents 60 years of age or older who are homebound or unable to prepare meals for themselves.
