Altoona School Taxes To Increase

Local taxpayers may have to dig a little deeper following Monday’s Altoona Area School Board meeting.
A unanimous vote to tentatively pass the district’s 2008-09 general fund budget set in motion the tax increase, the maximum allowable millage under the Act 1 index. The proposed budget includes a 3.8 increase meaning the average taxpayer will have a $22 to $40 increase in their property taxes.
