Blair Hires New HR Director

Blair County has a new personnel director.
After months of searching, the commissioners announced the appointment of Dianne Carland at a Monday morning meeting of the county’s salary board.
Carland will be paid an annual salary of $55,000. She spent 22 years working for Small Tubes in Duncansville, but recently lost her job when the company changed ownership. Carland says she’s up for the new challenge.
Filling the job has proved to be tough for the county. It was vacant for 14 months before the commissioners hired Rebecca Young in 2007. She left the county a few months later for a position in the private sector. Commissioner Donna Gority says Carland is committed to helping the board deal with its problems…especially in the area of hiring and retaining good employees.
Carland officially starts her new job next Tuesday.
