City Woman Accused Of DUI In A School Zone

A city woman is facing DUI charges after school crossing guards stopped her vehicle last week in a school zone.

Altoona police say the believe 24-year-old Sheena Weyandt, of 118 E. Sixth Ave was overdosed on heroin at the time the guards stopped her car before it reached the crossing area at 17th Street and 4th Avenue on April 28th . The incident occurred as students were going home for the day after attending the Penn-Lincoln Elementary School.

Before getting to the crossing zone Weyandt’s vehicle hit a parked car at 11th Avenue and 13th Street. After stopping the Weyandt vehicle the police were called to the scene and they found Weyandt appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The responding officers found a burnt spoon used to heat heroin before injection in the driver’s seat. In addition a syringe was visible in her purse along with several small blue plastic bags of suspected heroin.

Weyandt has been charged with driving under the influence of a drug or a combination of drugs along with other offenses.
